Fund presentation
Allianz Innovation 3 is the successor to Allianz Innovation 2, launched in 2000. It is an FCPI ("fonds commun de placement dans l'innovation") or high-tech fund, i.e. a venture capital fund (VCF) with specific characteristics:
60% of assets invested in unquoted companies: 60% of the assets of an FCPI must be invested in innovative French unquoted companies.
The innovative nature of a company is judged according to its spending on research and development, or whether it has been approved by the ANVAR (the French innovation association).
The company must also satisfy a number of criteria: - fewer than 500 employees - majority of capital not held by a legal entity
40% of assets in a diversified portfolio of investments in the Euro zone: The 40% are distributed across a balanced portfolio of share, bond and money market mutual funds in the euro zone.
FCPIs are subject to very specific regulations, with particular regard to limits on the holding of assets and the distribution of risk within portfolios.
FCPIs are subject to approval and auditing by the AMF (the French financial markets authority).
